Scenario 1 - Who Decides?

Imagine a girl called Sally (aged 14) has a life threatening disease. There is a treatment available but it has been developed through embrionic stem cell research.

Sally's parents are both against embryonic stem cell research on religious grounds and do not want her to have the treatment.

The local hospital has begun High Court procedings to temporarily remove Sally from her parent's custody to allow the treatment to go ahead.

The jury decide that Sally should be allowed to say whether she wants the treatment or not. The condition is that she must convince the jury that she has given her decision enough thought and that she has all the information she needs.

Imagine you are Sally. The judge asks "Should you have more right to life than a 14 day old embryo?"
