Terms and Conditions for "The Big Question Competition"
It is a condition of entry that all rules are accepted as final and that the competitor agrees to abide by these rules. Submission of an entry will be taken to mean acceptance of these terms and conditions.

This competition is open to all UK school teachers. No employee, agent, affiliate, officer or director of Portland Press Limited or the Biochemical Society is eligible to enter. Entrants must be aged 18 or over.

Only one entry (question) is permitted per person.

To enter, you must discuss "the issues" surrounding any of the topics on www.SciberBrain.org with school students and submit your most interesting questions sent via the “add feedback” page. If you have any questions about how to enter or in connection with the competition, please email jane.thomson@biochemistry.org with ‘The Big Question Competition’ in the subject line.

The closing date of this competition is Midnight on Wednesday1st Feb 2012. Entries received after this date will not be considered.

All entries will go through a short listing process and a final round of judging by members of the Biochemical Society Education Committee. Entries will be given credit for:
i) Innovation and creativity
ii) Relevance to the issues addressed by the SciberBrain website
iii) Succinctness
iv) Pertinence for the scientific community
v) Pertinence for public understanding of science in society

Three cheques of £100 will be awarded for the three questions deemed most interesting by the judges. The prizes will be sent via recorded delivery in April 2012.
- The winner will be notified by email within 28 days of the closing date. If the winner does not respond to the email within seven days of being notified then the winner’s prize will be forfeited and the Promoter shall be entitled to select another winner (and that winner will have to respond to the email from the Promoter within 7 days or else they will also forfeit their prize).
- The Promoter takes no responsibility for entries that are lost, delayed, misdirected or incomplete or cannot be delivered or entered for any technical or other reason. Proof of delivery of the entry is not proof of receipt.

Events may occur that render the competition itself or the awarding of the prize impossible due to reasons beyond the control of the Promoter and accordingly the Promoter may at its absolute discretion vary or amend the promotion and the entrant agrees that no liability shall attach to the Promoter as a result thereof.

The Winners may be invited to be involved in promotional activity.
